Kaisa is an abundantly available fast-growing wild grass in Bangladesh. It is available in everywhere in Bangladesh. In the northern part of Bangladesh handicraft artisans make beautiful, strong baskets with Kaisa grass. It is a material that grows in the fields. After harvesting, the grass has to be dried for a couple of days before they can use it to make products.

When kaisa grass is dried, it changes color from natural light green to tan. The dried kaisa grass is hand woven to make products mainly baskets. These kaisa products are hand woven by wrapping synthetic ribbon or jute thread around a thick bunch of kaisa grass.
